1979/80 Holdsworth Special £300 plus postage. UK postage only.

The Special was the model below the Professional. 531db tubing thoughout and Campagnolo ends. 73/73 degree angles made it slightly more relaxed than the Professional. It also had mudguard eyes on the drop outs. I guess you could call it an early Sportif model

Lots of pictures here, and a couple below, please do have a look: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmcuojq7

Seat tube:23 1/2" Top Tube 22" Head Tube 7"

For 27" wheels so will take 700c with clearance for mudguards. 68mm British thread BB. 126mm OLN rear drop outs. 100mm OLN front forks. 27.2mm seatpost. Frame/Forks/Headset and seat bolt weigh 3080gms (Kitchen scales).

Comes with Campagnolo seatpost bolt and Campagnolo steel gransport headset. Both in VVGC. The levers on the frame are not included, but I will also include all paperwork and a bottle of touch up paint.

Bought by me in 1979/80 from Howes of Cambridge* for £105. So 38/39 years old. Has been in storage for 20 years (well, hanging on my office wall). Frame was restored by Argos Cycles of Bristol in 2012 for £317. I had always intended to build it up never got round to it and truth be, it is slightly too small as I grew another 3" after I bought it.

*When Howes closed in 2013, it was the UK's oldest Cycle shop having been open for 173 years since 1840. I will include the additional shop sticker.

I have been asked on Ebay whether its a replica or not. Replica: Well aside from walking into Howes and buying it with paper round money in 1979/80.... Frame number is 021304. Campag ends, Lugs, Partial wrap stays, top tube cable guides all say Holdsworth. Came in Champagne-Silver. In 1983 I had it resprayed red and the down tube gear lever bosses added. No photos of original colour, but some of it in Red. Tbh it wouldn't really make sense to fake a replica, pay Argos £317 to respray it and then sell it for £300... Please do look at the flickr link as there are photos of the Argos receipt, which will be supplied with the frame.

Re:

I'm guessing people have asked if it's a replica because you got it resprayed in the Holdsworth Professional colours when it's a 531 Special.

 No the comment was "How do I know its not a Holdsworth". Think Im being pretty obvious its neither a Pro or an Equipe
