I know nothing about these bikes in the late 90's early 00's
But the 1999 Shoreline Trail (Alivio/ESP5.0) does seem to fit the bill closely.
Bar the colour

Not looked earlier yet or at other models.

and yes it's a Cro-Mo rear end from a quick read around and 6065 front triangle (bikepedia)

That's probably it then. I'd been assuming it was a late front and early rear. Other 99's i'd looked at had the aluminium swing arm
