I picked this frame up for 30 quid on STW due to slight bendage issues on the r/h chainstay. Also, it's one of the few 29'ers around that take rim brakes.

Decided to build with the best of my spare bits not being used on other builds.

Worked out well- looks like a monster truck but weighs about 23lbs :)

I would put the shifters otherwise (and the only right way in my eyes). Brake levers do need to lay above them, not onder them.
