My idea was to build a 29er on the cheap. This started as a frame for 26" wheels, but have converted using adapter to 700c with cyclocross tyres. So I guess it's either a 29er-Lite (my preference!), a cyclocross with straight handlebars or a hybrid. Take your pick... Unfortunately the photos don't show it at its best.

So, spec:

Frame: Saracen Kili Comp (NOS) 853 tubing, size 21"
Forks: Kona P2 700c
Rear mech: XTR
Front mech: to change soon
Wheels: Fulcrum Racing 7
Tyres: Continental Speed Kings 700c x 35
Brakes: XT V brakes, STX-RC levers
Seatpost: Carbon no name
Bar ends: Woodman carbon
Cranks: Dura Ace double
Gears: Suntour friction thumbies
Skewers/seat clamp: Hope gold

So a bit of a mish mash but I quite like it :D

I believe that this badboy looks reet good :D

It somehow looks better proportioned with the larger wheels.

Hybrid or 29er Lite looks great in my book.

How much clearance is there at the back?

How much clearance is there at the back?

about 8mm

Took it for its first ride today and it was great - although the handlebars are too low for my liking - I'll have to get a higher rise stem. Perfect for the commute along the bumpy canal path.

Hell!

I own cars with less rear wheel clearance! :D
