New Little Jump Bike Project for a BIG Man.

Old School Hero
Hi, This is my second build after building my Cannondale Super V (Uber'd) about this time last year (its in this forum but didn't get much interest as I pretty much put up before and after photos). After a fun year bombing round on that I fancied a new project and I want to learn to jump better so I thought I'd build a 4X/jump bike in a bit of hark back to my youth and to replace the one I had stolen a few years back.

This is (was) supposed to be a bit of a budget build but after buying a rather nice pair of Bombers off here the DIY paint job on the frame just won't do so I am on the look out for a decent and reasonable costing powder coater in the Newport/Cardiff area.

I'm 6'7" so I can't wait to get the odd looks down the local BMX track on this once built.

So please find the spec and some photos below.

Re:

Hi, err....

Not sure, but lets say I have plenty of room.

Will give it measure cos I'm not even sure myself.

Guess it'll be 14" frame.

Re:

Hi,

Your Rhythm looks great, hope mine turns out as well.

I have thought about the single speed thing but I quite like the gears and I'd already bought the rear mech.

Should be good either way and it might be something I do later. Will get it built first then go from there.

I also should explain that I only paid £17.50 for the frame hence the reason behind the budget remark however the forks cost considerably more than that so that's why I would like a decent paint job.

I asked DMR about replacement decals and they sent me a set of royal blue ones out for free (only ones they had but I can't complain, great customer service - dealt with Olly Wilkins too - seen him in the magazines and videos - pretty cool). So down with da kids...

Think I might go navy blue on the frame. Decisions decisions.

Re:

Yeah, I'd been thinking something similar but I have googled similar blue on blue combinations and they look alright.

A friend has suggested gloss black but I think this may be a little boring.

Open to suggestions - Will have a look about myself too.

pearl white powder would stand out and not clash with the blue or the orange

Re:

Hi, bit of an update.

Think I've decided on a colour - Trailer Truck Teal by Prismatic Powders.

I'm sending the frame to my mate Mark who owns Impreziv Finishing in Darlington who did my Cannondale - he did a great job on that so I'm expecting great things again.

I've also managed to get a silver D521 on an LX hub so I can now go 9 speed.

As for stand over - the frame measured up at about 14" so I have plenty.

Cheers
