Kona Cindercone 98

Warning Kona Content.

This arrived last night courtesy of Swannymere and his brother Ross.
I had a play today with putting some bits on, and a bit of metal polish and t cut etc.
Hoping the gear changers, chain, and cassette arrive tomorrow so I can get her roadworthy.

Stx shifters and chainset arrived and fitted. Grips on and cable fitted. Grips on too. Just waiting on a new chain, new wheels, avid v brake and water bottle bolts. Then some painting for the forks. More pics to come

Nice, but aren't those the older, shorter Project 2s? I reckon they're from a '92 Kona, and the longer ones are '94 onwards.

Of course, if the handling works for you as it is, no reason not to stick with them

Wheels have arrived and been fitted. They seem more period and run like butter (don't all wheels??) An improvement on the last pair. I took her out earlier and she decided to take me to the beach. I discovered the water bottle holder is little more than cosmetic when i rode over the traffic calming rumble strips on the way out of my road and the water bottle ejected and span off down the road. Apart from the seat slipping back and becoming very uncomfortable and the 11 tooth sprocket deciding to jump all was good. Map my ride told me I was averaging 17mph without too much effort so happy days ( good for a fat old bloke I thought)

I'm going to repaint the stem and forks as they need it badly. I was wondering about colours. I was thinking
Black
Silver
Gold
Orange (like the orange on the tires)

Any thoughts guys and gals?

Cream from the lettering on Kona, if I remember right didn't that come with a white Indy C.

I had a Caldera from 1998 brand spanking new. Was totally awesome.

I would paint the forks and stem a very dark metalic charcoal grey.

I'm liking the sound of grey. If cream wasn't so close to Kona powdercoat white id be loving it too.
