Re: new project start

Updates in the thread.

Will that weld hold? Wasn't sure if aluminium was good material for repairs?

Paint looks ace.

Re: new project start

Its all in the prep carefully drilled each end of the crack then took a file and filed out the crack so there's a place for for new weld to sit plus I think a lot of welders just lay the new weld over the top of the crack rather than fill it if it doesn't work its a nice piece of wall art plus on with rebuilding some marzocchi monster t to go on it

Re: new project start

Agree with all you are saying its just a bike that is going to be taking some big hits so was interested to see how it was going to hold up.

Hope it holds out ok. I'd keep an eye on it though.

Signing up for pictures of this being built up...

Not seen someone repair aluminium in this way so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I'd be a bit nervous though!

Re: new project start

Am not nervous as I trust my welder I don't see the problem cos at the end of the day was it not welded when it was built
