So I wanted a 29er, I wanted it light, and I love Marin....Sooo when this popped up on ebay it ticked all of my boxes! When it didn't sell for the asking price I got in touch with the seller and struck a deal at £1550 collected for cash... Which I thought was ok considering a bike of this built new would be in excess of £4000! The frame is in great condition with a couple of minor marks but most of the other equipment is brand new! The wheels/tyres and 75% of the groupset are new...along with the new saddle, seatpost, and full cable replacement it seemed to good to be true.

So this morning I set out on a journey to Basildon from Chandlers Ford!! A 250 mile round trip but boy was it worth it! The bike is stunning! I had a quick blast today and it rides a treat but it will get a proper outing tomorrow. And despite being a 29er hardtail it weighs in at around 21.5 lbs!!!

I'm real pleased with it and it has some nice touches...internal cable routing for the gear cables, and the rear brake caliper sits inside the loop of the seat/chain stays to name but 2!

All comments appreciated and no offence taken for negative ones!

Cheers

Doug

Looks great, and I bet it flies! Not sure about the pedals though ;).

Regards

Yeah the pedals are an old set of NC17's that I had knocking about that I've put on to ride it as it came with none! Shamefully still like my toeclips and not into SPD's etc...

The proportions look good for a 29er - what size is it and/or how tall are you? I'm only 5'8" and like my bikes 'chuckable', so I'm not sure a 29er would look right in my size.

Regards

Well surprisingly I am a shade below 6ft 4 but most of my height is in my torso not my legs...I have between a 32-33" inside leg. This frame is a 19" and the height of the saddle is right for me. They also do a 20.5" and a 22"!!!!! God knows who could fit the 22 I have about 1.5" of clearance on my knackers when standing flat foot over the toptube...

Hmmm. I'm normally a 17" frame, give-or-take depending on the geometry. Just looked at some 17" 29er, and they're not pretty :(

Regards

Put it this way...they guy I got the bike from was about 5ft 9" and this was way too big...and he thought a 17.5" maybe also...he was thinking of a Cannondale Scapel or a Specialised Epic kind of frame design as the have more of a scoop lower down at the seat tube...

Lovely. Now make sure you don't get anything stuck fast on this one!
