My brother's birthday present.

I bought this for my brother as a birthday present and I've been building it up for months. I'm having a real nightmare indexing the gears (I think it's a combination of the really small front cog and the cassette). I did get it to be a project for my brother, so hopefully he can sort out the gears himself! It's a real mixture of parts, but the wheels, frame and forks are pretty decent, so it should leave him with some upgrade potential in the future.

Is it actually a merlin? Can't recall them have those chain stays. Looks really smart that though, good job.

I wasn't sure about it being a Merlin when I first picked it up, but I found a link (which I can't find now) to them for sale. I've also got a MBUK from 2000 which has an advert for a Merlin trials frame in Azure Blue, so I'm guessing it's that. The polished jump frames they did were later, and I think more expensive.

If you move the chainring to the inside position on the cranks you will get a much better chainline position.
