Scott Strike G-Zero Carbon Full floater - modded

Dirt Disciple
Back in October I convinced the other half to come out with me on the bikes - one issue - she has no bike.

I have a Ghost Se which she can ride as I ordered it deliberately small as a semi xc/jumpable bike for the local trails, so I got he chance to indulge in something myself.
I had a notion for an LTS, but then this cropped up, albeit without the tyres, which were totally shot.

and alongside the Ghost

I swapped the turbotrainer wheel on, and threw my Crank Bros pedals on for a run, you can see the lovely weave in this one:

the first thing to change was the pads, which I swapped out for Goodridge pads, and bought the mrs some red discs for the Ghost:

I really didnt like the Rigida wheelset, which I felt wasnt in keeping, so bought some Mavic Crossrides, and floating rotors:

I fitted an XT Cassette and some anodised rotor bolts too

I added some Ritchey Grips

The Seatclamp seemed a bit crude so I bought this:

One thing that niggled me were the Judy Airs - so off they came, and out came the big guns, Marzocchi All Mountain 150s

I love it to bits - Its sat beside me in the spare room propped up against the TV :D

Today I bought some XT shifters, an XT Shadow Rear mech, some Blue Jockeys, and Blue jockey wheel bolts.

Lovely frame that. Can't help but feel the forks are too much though. I'd have gone for some Pace FR forks to match the carbon. Maybe something with less travel.

Thanks folks - The forks can be shortened to 120, but to be honest im revelling in the excess travel at the moment coming from the 120mm manitou Blacks on the Ghost. I may well tire of it at a later date though.

I had initially been looking at Pace's, however I noticed a common trend of all the ones on eBah being damaged, or knackered :s and I couldnt warrant the price of the bike again on a new set. However Im constantly trawling here and ebah, if the right set come up i'll be on it like a car bonnet.

I was bidding on a Sintesi Bazooka there until the seller retracted the auction. In a fit of rage I went and bought every single bolt for the bike in Titanium, chain bolts, shifter bolts the heap. Guess I may hold on to this and tart it up!

The new XT shifters are beaut - first time ive ever reached this high in the shimano range!

Ive still been tweaking away changing bolts out - today im gunna fit the XT shifters, rear mech, and discs...

I changed the chainring bolts out:

Its astoundingly compliant and feels quite 'mute'
It shocked me how far I could lean while still hitting things!

you know how your pallet changes as you age...hate wine at 21 but then love it at 30, thats how i am with your bike!! I used to detest those Scotts but now, seeing yours makes me crave one!! What an awsome trail machine1 What does it weigh fully built?

I agree Chris - when I was a teen in the mid 90s the Scott product range was so far off my to do list as I was besotted by the more eccentric designs of DH bikes at the time. Yet now I want an Endorphin 'soft tail' so bad!!!
Must be that theyve aged fairly well by staying away from garish designs?
