I have started a new project, after taking apart my intense tazer due to Lack of use i have decided a nice steel hardtail was in order.
I found a pre loved Blizzard 2004 reynolds 853 (nice).
I was going to try for a super lightweight build but that idea has been put on hold for now.... so anyway lightish strong parts then....

Bits so far...

Crank Bros opium DH aheadset
Fox float R 130mm(or 100mm setting)
Hope Bulb front black hub on D521CD
Hope Rear XC black Hub on D521CD
Shimano 11-21 block 9 speed
Michelin dry all mountian 2.35 (maybe nobby nik 2.1 soon)
Hayes 9 grey ( with danger boy levers) goodridge hose's white.
ASHIMA wavey rotors..
XT shifter 9
XT bb
Hone cranks 32 T ring.
Thin alloy bashguard BBG ?
Thomson 90mm.
Answer Pro tapers Gold
Sunline Fatty grips
Seatpost Azonics black 26.8
Saddle Pave Ti or charge fly

Going to ride for a while as single front set up.
Might then triple it up....i will have to see.

Frame arrived yesterday, change of plan though, the steerer as i thought is to short for the mammoth rocky headtube.
The forks are now Fox Float 2006 set currently at 130mm travel. (i will see how it rides at this length)

Headset is now Crank Bros Opium DH, i am using the King for the next project.

here's a couple of todays build photos..

Nice frame!

I have the '03 version equipped with a 100mm Sid, I assume the frame is the same geometry. Especially in steep, out of the saddle climbs I think the fork is too long, the weight balance is too much towards the back. Therefore I probably will reduce the travel to 80mm, hopefully this should improve it's climbing.

Nevertheless the ride is great on this one!

Update,
changed the stem to a Thomson 90mm
some alloy bolts fitted.
decided to go 32 tooth front with lightweight bashguards..

Photo's soon..

;)
