well iv come to a decision that the stinky needs to slim down a bit now as its planetary weight is no longer bearable on anything but quick jaunts. other than the monstrous forks what would else would be advisable to change to shed a few pounds? comments welcome :D

Quick and cheap way is to change the tires to 2.3 profile from 2.5 tires. Abit lighter and easier to pedal around. Could change the forks to same period Marzocchi Super T forks if the budget allows it.
