Wow, have you seen the spec of the Carrera Full Suspension bikes?
(Yes exclusive to Halfords, as in made for them)

Carerra Banshee, £500 new, 6" rear travel (Suntour Raidon), with 5.6" front travel (Suntour Radion LOD) with Tektro Auriga Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

Carerra Banshee X, £700 new, 6" rear travel (Rockshox Ario), with 6" front travel (Marzocchie 33R) and Avid Juicy 3 Hydraulic Disk Brakes.

In terms of quality most other brands are £1000+ for a spec anywhere near this.

Incredible, if you want something lighter then a Boardman Full Suspension, get a bargain on last years model (If Halfords have got any left, I know our local shops, have sold out, and just have the Front Suspension models).

Makes me think that full suspension bikes of other brands with a similar spec but at prices approx £1300+ are expensive, especially since the big brands aren't light weights either most 28lbs+

JUST 17.5" & 19"!

I'd have one (An X) 2mrw, but I'm short, I ride a 16" maximum.

So a 17.5: (Difference: 1.5" bigger frame)
and since it has a 560mm fork (10cm = 4" longer then my front sus)
this raises the B/B height from 30cm to 35cm (Difference: 2")

Hence reducing my crotch clearance from 4" (on my 16") to 1/2inch (On a Banshee X)! Aw.

Alot lighter then you'd think certainly sub 28lbs I guess, (And alot lighter then my old Krakatoa, the Carrera Krakatoa) great geometry even with those long travel forks as well.

The bottom bracket height will increase with longer forks and I guess rear suspension will play a big part in it being higher.
When you sit/stand on it it's all drop in to the correct place.
Doesn't help you when you're standing over it though.

err while being confused
we/halfords do actually have a carrera end of range sale going on
shouldve been january i believe

but they are going out pretty quick
i think another good deal was one of the vulcans
cant quite remember

Yes. I know, Sales, that is...

Sales, at Halfords.... (Did you know, I used to work there, for 5 years as a bike mechanic, I much enjoyed the truing wheel jig).

I know, but the Full Suspension Carrera is the BANSHEE, and that is only sold in 17" and 19", both of which are too big for me, that is, I can't get my leg over as easy as I'd like (Those dam pretty women cashiers), and on the 17" I don't even have 1/2 inch of crotch clearance!

I asked Halfords if they planned to do a smaller version for 2012, their reply was: NO, just the 17" and 19", again.

So since, Carrera have women specific frames (Smaller style frames, but top tube not parallel with down tube) I asked if they have a womens Carrera full suspension, their reply was: NO,

So I guess the next alternative is the most expensive, a Chris Boardman Full Suspension in small 2011/2012, if any store has one. But they are not bargain price:
~ 2010, £1000+
~ 2011, £1600+

You can get a very GHOST or CUBE for similar money, or just looking at 2011 models, a very very nice GHOST or CUBE, for less.

is crotch clearance so much of an issue
never found the lack of it a hinderance

i took a banshee as a trade in about 5 years ago , similar frame to a kona dawg , even made in the same country (vietnam)
bit heavy and the shocks a bit shit but fine for the money

newer ones any different ?
