All the parts have been bought and not transplanted from other bikes.... I just need to get the decals

looks more like a '98 to me, however i have been proved wrong before.
i thought the '99s had the squarer tubing.

very nice all the same, i could really do with getting one of those extented travel linkages for my '98 :(

It wad asking BETD which linkage was suitable for the bike that gave me the year, I gave measurements and they came back with 99 FSR and the 99 linkage fits perfect, but I also have been proved wrong it could well be a 98

the rear ends on the '98 & '99 are almost identicle, i had both a '98 & '99 at one point in time and the only difference i noticed was the seat stay but where the linkage plate connected it was the same measurement wise.
if it is of course this linkage "Specialized FSR Gc 97 to 99 and Enduro 00 to 01" off there site then by the sounds of it the measurements didn't change much.
i could still be wrong though lol :D

have you checked out my blue '98 GC FSR in my sig ? gonna be changing it about a bit in the coming weeks.

EDIT: just checked bikepedia and yours is indeed a '99 FSR comp.

i have the same bike with betd link and enduro seat stay

i used the top hats from a s-works 2001 so the bearings would fit

yeah 98 model but i used 2001 seat stay which had bearings installed and betd link
so used top hats from my 2001 s-works and it fits perfect

edit his is a 99 as his decals are stickers and not painted on like mines

the square style is early big hit max backbone
