2002 Kona Lavadome

Hello from a noob here!

Here is my beloved bike. It's a little garish, and not exactly feather-light, but pretty much bomb-proof as it stands; my 2002 Kona Lava Dome which I bought new over 7 years ago:



Over and above standard it has:

- '04 Manitou Skareb Platinum forks
- FSA Orbit XL2 headset
- Easton EA50 seatpost (need a 400mm one as this is 350 and too short really and is causing my knees pain on climbs, but can't find one I want in 27.0mm dia.)
- SDG Bel Air RT saddle (hella comfy)
- Club Roost XC2 bars
- Wellgo V8 clones
- Cheapo green GT grips (a little small in diameter for my hands, but will do for now)

There don't seem to be many of these about at all, pretty rare I think. And yes, I need to remove the reflectors (never got around to it)!

When you remove the reflectors, how about removing the spoke guard on the rear wheel too?

i wouldn't say "garish" save for those bloody red pedals :mrgreen:

it is indeed a nice frame, the last double butted steel one without
disc tabs and a sensible 80/90mm fork geometry...
too bad there's not a lot of'em around...

will upload pics of mine soon when the last two parts needed will be there

if only i could find a 16" one... :cry:

oh, and the seatpost is a 27.2mm on mine, you should try to squeeze
apart *lightly* the top of the seat tube to fit one :twisted:

Great frame, I've got a 2002 Lava Dome too. Rides really nice with 100mm forks, will post pics up soon.
