After careful thought I've realized that I just don't ride these three bikes so it's time to part them out. Two I've had for quite a while, one I recently got. Prices don't include shipping but cost will be the actual rate, no inflated shipping rates here. PM with interest. Happy to ship abroad as well.

1) Early 90's Bontrager Race frame, size Lg (17" ST c-c). I've always thought of this frame as made during the time when Bontrager was switching from the OR to the Race (92ish I believe) as it has some characteristics of both frames. I'm told the chain stays are of the OR vintage and it has the "left open" wishbone on the seat stays like the OR's but it doesn't have the bonded & riveted cable guides. All threads are fine, original paint is in nice shape, and while repro'ed the decals are of decent quality and in very good condition. Will come as pictured with original seat collar, American Classic seat post & older white Bontrager saddle. $300 SOLD

2) Brave Warrior frame, 17-1/2" ST & 22-1/4 TT c-c. Based on the serial number (89BW110) I've always considered this an 89 but I'm not 100% on that. Made by Tom Teesdale. I had it repainted & decaled by Tom 3 or 4 years ago and as it's only been ridden 2 or 3 times since then the paint is in exceptional condition. Will come as pictured with turquoise seat binder, black seat post & WTB saddle. $300 (paint job alone ran me more than that). SOLD

3) Brave Racer frame, 17-1/2" ST & 21-1/2" TT c-c. Based on the serial number (BR-008-5-93) I consider this a 93 and since it doesn't have the TET stamp on it I assume it's a Bill Grove frame. Paint is original and by no means perfect. It had a few spots of light rust when I got it and after taking some emory cloth to those spots I was relieved to find it's only surface rust. Other than a small ding on the drive-side chain stay and some chain suck I can find no other dents. Not a museum piece but will build into a great blue collar rider. Will come with pictured Phil Wood BB (very smooth), a red Thomson seat post & a WTB saddle. $250 SOLD

Forks:

1) Bontrager Comp w/threadless 1" steerer (209mm steerer w/star nut). Chrome finish isn't perfect (light pitting in places) but still in very nice condition. $275 SOLD
2) Bontrager Comp w/threaded 1" steerer (180mm w/28mm or threads). These are an interesting fork. I had the blades laying around for years & years as they didn't have the brake bosses bonded & riveted on them. I finally decided to send them to FTW to have regular brake bosses brazed on them. He did a great job and the paint on them is also very nice. Blades and crown are unused (no hub or QR markings on the dropouts) but the crown has a small amount of shop wear. $250 SOLD
3) Bontrager Race fork w/threaded 1" steerer (140mm w/30mm of threads). I have another steerer that's 15mm longer if interested in swapping, it just has a little surface rust on it. $225 SOLD
4) Tange Switchblade w/threaded 1" steerer (170mm w/35mm of threads). $150 SOLD
5) Rock Shox Quadra 10 (?) w/threadless 1" steerer (183mm w/star nut). Still compresses & rebounds. Current elastomers feel pretty stiff, not sure if that means they need replacing or if they're just the harder variety. $30

Marzocchi Z1 and Z1 MCR - **PM me for more pictures if you want to see more detail**

Fork History - The MCR hasn't been used in probably at least 9 years and the older Z1 probably 7-8 years. The stanchions are perfect on both...no scratches. The MCR has some small scratches at the base of the steerer...minor but I want to be completely transparent on condition.

Z1 MCR QR20 - Really low hours on this one. I would say less than 20 hrs tops. I bought it back in 2001 from Universal Cycles to use on a Turner RFX that I ended up riding more with a Junior T and even then I didn't ride the RFX much.
I spent the vast majority of my time in those days on my Turner XCE, which had the other Z1 mounted on it. There is an issue with the ECC lockout. It only worked for the first few rides I did on it. I know there were some issues with the ECC's not working for a ton of folks and the mtbr reviews reflect that. I know it hs been mentioned that a lot of them shipped from the factory with little oil which was the root at some of the issues, but I suppose others may know more about this. Does not impact the forks performance
1 1/8" Steerer - 8" length
$175 USD

Z1 Bomber - Purchased in 2000 from a small shop in Norcal that went out of business long ago. I did change out the 5" stock springs (which I still have and will include) for the 4" springs to match the 4" travel on the rear of the XCE early on in it’s life. If I recall correctly the fork was serviced twice in it’s life. The seals have leaked a bit of oil but I’m not sure if that’s because I had it stored flat in a box for a year when we moved from Norcal to Denver 3+ years ago. I have since had it stored upright.
1 1/8" Steerer - 8.25" length
$115 USD

King base plate/crown races on both forks included

Paypal payment - "Gift" preferred
Shipping - Will only charge buyer whatever UPS or USPS charges me. No more no less
International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

I'm posting this here as well as the European side because in mid-June I'll be in Michigan and can ship these items then.

This is THE best kit on the market for converting the original to 1 1/8" for use with modern forks. The headset is also smooth as butter, which isn't something you can say for the Klein design. I had it a on a Mantra Pro but it might fit other Klein's with the 3.1 headset.

I also have a Marzocchi Bomber 44RLO fork, cut to match a medium Mantra Pro. It comes with a Raceface stem and is in great shape.

£225 for everything, delivered.

Pics on request.

Thanks,
Peter

I have a 1989 Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer frame and fork I would like to trade for a larger size. The frame I have is 19” center to top, 17” center to center, and 21.5” top tube. It feels small for a 19” bike. I’m looking to move up a size, 19” center to center (+/-). The frame is in fair condition with surface rust and scratches, but no dents or dings. White paint with purple accents. So if you have an old frame hanging around that’s just a bit to big, contact me.

Thanks.
