Ok guys, item number two coming off the Marin IFT is this, not OE, and cost me a bloody fortune at the time.

These are for the good old standard diameter bars, in very good condition for their age, with end caps also in good condition, and immaculate SS bolts.

I'm asking a mere £25 posted for these. I think I will be replacing my bars with the wavy ones, whatever they're called, due to shoulder and back problems, so will have no need for these.

These weigh a ridiculous 76g for the pair!!!!!

Please enlighten me then. I was sold them new in a shop as Ti, and paid Ti prices for them, and it said on the packet that they were Ti.

I will have a look on them for some markings and do a bit of research. Thanks for the tip off.

Al or Ti?

Those are def aluminium bars made by the same company in china that produces SRP products (not to be confused with Speciality Racing Products from the USA).

These are the aluminium ones currently listed on ebay from a chinese seller (essentially the same as yours):

The same seller has some pretty nice Titanium stubbies too which I've just bought as a change from my lovely Onza Ti L-bends:

Anyway, I'm sorry that it sounds like someone ripped you off initially.

OK folks, I have done a bit of research and it looks as though these are not actually made of Ti. I am so gutted.

Here is a quote from the BikePro web site:
"Icon 7000 Series - Short
These are the hands down light weight winner. They are cold forged in the USA using a technique known as backward impact extrusion. A single piece of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy is compressed under great pressure to make the near finished version of the part. These are a 3 3/4" long straight grip tube bar end. End plugs for the grip tube and a second set for your handlebar are included. The 6mm x 1mm thread cinch bolts are steel. These are anodized Titanium Grey and have a pair weight of just 80 grams. $ 49.99"

That's a lot less money than I paid, although things always cost more in the UK anyway.

I'm affraid I cannot vouch for the comments made by Rob1, as I have no idea what other companies may have been involved with icon, although the above quote does seem to suggest that these were made in the US and not China.

I also have seen a comparison table on BikePro:

http://www.bikepro.com/products/barends ... ables.html

And also another on WeightWeenie:

http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listi ... pe=barends

The only thing no-one seems to agree on is the weight. The weight I have listed is from my scales, and the photos are of the real thing.

I hope this clears some things up

Sorry, meant to say that they were def made of aluminium... and were similar to the SRP ones I posted a link to (I didn't recheck the photo until after as my brain remembered both shapes as being identical). Sorry for the confusion.

Shame someone conned you but at least they served you well as lightweight barends- they look pretty comfy to me.

If I was keeping to straight bars on the new steed, then I wouldn't let them out of my site. I have owned Onza ones and Control Stix before, and they just don't compare.

No worries about the confusion
