You're probably right, but have you tried to find a quality plain black stem with 1" quill these days? - rocking horse doo-doo, thats all I can say.
I know, I know, I would'nt hurt to have the Bonty decal on there but I guess I'm quite anal about these things :?

It's a smooth finish, i wouldn't remove it myself either, but if you buy it you can do what you want with it i'spose!
