I have a mountfield petrol I bought (because it was reasonably cheap) from B&Q some years back. I've never maintained it, thoroughly abused it, never once changed the oil or plug, and it's never yet let me down.
And now I've said that, it'll go bang next time I use it.

Between me and you I use my harrier 48 when he slopes off to the Chelsea flower show.
Had it 13 years now and never had it serviced never failed to start each season, good old fashioned British design and engineering with a quality american engine.
