Starts and drives fine, but here's a breakdown of the work required:
Brakes - I fitted new pads as the old ones were knackered, but the pedal goes almost all the way to the floor. No leaks in the system so possibly seized caliper or broken master cylinder??
Engine - has started using up a LOT of water, could be a leaking cooling system or maybe even Headgasket? Also a bit smokey on cold start up, most likely glow plugs (20 quid to replace)
Front suspension - requires a new track control arm. Not urgent, but in the foreseeable... These are around 30 quid online and about an hour to fit.
On the plus side it has 205GTI alloys, with 3 x nearly new tyres and one brand spanking new tyre due to a pot hole blowout. This has done less than 50 miles.
Alpine stereo. Brand new front wipers. Brand new front Ferodo pads.
All electrics work as they should, and the car was returning around 50 to the gallon before I decided the brakes were not safe to use on the road. Engine still feels very strong and pulls as it should. Clutch and gearbox are all working fine.
Due to the above problems, I've priced it generously at £500 ono
