wanted: soldering iron.

I need a soldering iron big enough to work with solder braid, I am told a 50W should do it.
This is sort of bike related, I bought an old ultrasonic cleaner to clean my chain and the cleaner heats but doesn't ultrasonic;-)

Maplin ?
They're not normally to expensive, though unable to recommend as I only solder electronics and a 25W and 18W is plenty enough for that (Antex ones)

antex are the way to go but maplin are pretty bad with prices. you can get a perfectly decent iron for under a tenner on feebay which if you are only getting for occasional use then they are ok. if going to be used quite a bit then go for an antex.

I have a collection of irons but not one suitable for this.
I will probably buy one of the antex 80W irons as they are cheap and probably will do the job, did I mention it was for desoldering, I bought a solder sucker thingie and the bloke chucked in a roll of solder braid said it would work on some things better than the sucker, but it needs more heat than a 25W iron can provide.
