This is where my id tag came from. About 2002, and I still wasn't using a computer much, but needed to get shot of a Lotus I just couldn't sell. A friend suggested eBay, and I needed to create an ID first, and this was it!

Yup, spyder chassis and either a transplant or the most expensive engine rebuild imaginable. IIRC, 10 years ago, an single piston and liner was £650. I sleeded each of my liners, but it was such a lot of work, I don't think I'll be going the way of Hethel built products any time soon

Yup.
And yes, that's what I told myself. . . Except you were always careful, as they always had the feeling of imminent self destruction. I couldn't believe the feeling of liberation "going Japanese" afterwards. Real thrashability, with a feeling of solidity.
