Bontrager B1

Hiya, I normaly hang around in MTB/singlespeed cirlces but I thought you lot might like to see the ride i've just finished for my daughter (she's nearly 9)

It's a Bontrager B1 which as far as i know was from 1999/2000 (so it's older than she is : ). I bought it from the States about 3 years ago and it's hung around waiting for her to grow / actually be interested in bikes!

So i recently set about building it only to find the $@&*ing seatpost was well and truely stuck. So a hacksaw ,some very big tools and a long time later and i've managed to hack enough out to get the seatpost to a safe depth. I have buggered the paint on the tube extension though and cut a groove through the metal below the seat tube slot ( i'm trying to not get angry as i write ).

Anyway, so the build is:

B1 frame - rasta headbadge detail
Shiney forks - no idea what make
Diamond back bars (cheap and matched the forks)
wtb headset
rasta spacers (thanks The Boy!)
Titec lump of metal / stem
original bonty saddle and ahem shorter seatpost
Deore cranks and vees (cos i had em)
KMC chain
Wellgo pedals (not sure on the blue yet)
and some fly gold Suntour hubs (misspelt on ebay find)
Michellin tyres.

as you can see i had a shake down ride to the local skate ramps and it was ace - i just can't wait for her to ride it now!!

I´ve thought the same thought for my son who wants a bmx badly.
How did it work out for your daughter? Did she like riding it?
