Retro BMX as kids bike?

With the exception of Islabikes, which are expensive, most modern kids bikes look rubbish. I know nothing about BMX (the closest I've ever been was my Raleigh Strika) but I love a retro resto project. How long do I have to complete a rebuild before it becomes a suitable form of transport for my six year old?

I quite like the look of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172224397094? ... EBIDX%3AIT

A BMX build can be as quick or as long as you want!!! There is little to them and their simplicity means that a handful of tools is all you need to crack on and builld, maintain and enjoy the 20" wonders. I love them and even at 46 i still enjoy riding them on cruises and organised events :)

Jussa :)

:) Thanks!

I'm wondering when my daughter will be big enough to ride one... Any ideas?

Thanks! She's got a 50cm inside leg, so possibly not far off, although obviously there's more to it than that. Think I'll try and pick something up sooner rather than later, that'll give me plenty of time to get it sorted for her.
