Alienation Ankle Biters 451 wheels-question on weight limits

I'm usually loitering on the road bike area but have a question to do with some Alienation Ankle biter, 20x 1 1/8" 451 rims I've bought.

I'm building a folding bike for commuting and light road touring. The Alienation rims apparently have a max rider weight of about 50kgs, as it is designed for youth BMX racing. I am presuming that this race style puts tremendous strain on the rim. As I am just road biking I am hoping that this weight limit is less relevant to the heavier commuter like me.

Anyone got any experience of these wheels in use by heavier users?

I would say 50kg is the limit and no more. Both my lads race on Anklebiters. They are used on Mini racebikes for 6 to 8 year olds. They don't put a lot of pressure on the rims as most cannot jump or manual.
My advice would be not to use them.

Interesting comment, cheers. Having looked at them though they are better built than other 36 hole rims with no limit. I had heard that it was more to do with thoe light alloy axles that the rims are built on to.

I've not actually seen an official reference to a weig limit either on alienation website, nor on the labelling on the rim.
