1987 team burner 'barn find'

OK so I'll fess up straight away, I didnt find it, I won it back in 1987 in a drawing competition when I was 11.
It was a comp. to promote the UK launch of Nabisco TEAM flakes, you may or may not remember them?

Anyway, it's been in my garage for 8 years and in a shed for 10 years prior. As its now 25 years old I feel it deserves some love.

Anyone able to tell me more about it? All I know is that it's a mk2 Andy ruffell team special, I know nothing about the frame.
I've taken some pics of the telltales as I can see them









The team flakes logo; it had a second set of frame pad covers with the same logo, sadly I can't find these nor the blue team bar pads


Tyres are the originals and they are shot. Hopefully I'll be able to find some new versions.

Oh and this is the bit that impressed me as an 11 year old

The MT CRMO that is stamped on the brake bridge indicates that the main tubes are chromoly, i.e front triangle and the stays will be hi-ten.
The higher range Burners like the Ultra and Super Tuff were full chromo and the proper team ones were Tange I think. The ones below this one were carbospec which I think was just full hi-ten steel.
So a mid range Andy Ruffell team replica, but still a nice survivor and well worth a bit of care and attention.

TOTALLY forgot he was there! Any ideas how old that sticker is? I seem to remember it was part of a set that included fluoro flowers (seem to remember them going on a set of bars I had) 1990? 91?

Thats awesome I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I've got a Team aero pro fully restored but would love the Andy Ruffell one as a rider. oh and that mint sauce sticker is excellent.

small thread resurrection, this ones been on the back burner (pun intended) for a while now. A lack of funds has meant no spending on MTBs so ive had no excuses to not clean it up.
Its coming along nicely, stripped it to a bare frame, paint isnt anywhere near as bad as it looks, all the rust on the frame is just staining and polishes out, the chrome has all come up near perfect apart from one area on the bars and even the tyres might save. ( i wouldnt ride them hard, but as they are the originals theyre worth keeping) and even the tubes have held pressure for a week now!



only let-down is some badly scratched decals due to careless storage and transport and the still missing pads. theres occasionally repro ones on ebay, but they are daft money. Im kicking myself now, as a couple of weeks ago someone was selling on ebay an original padset actually signed by andy ruffell!! AND I BLOODY FORGOT ABOUT IT!!!! they ended for little more than half the price of the repros!!!
