hi small wheelers :D

i have a shimano freewheel that isn't living up to its name at the mo and was wondering if any one new of anything that could help free it up a bit.

have tried soaking in degreaser and lube and its a bit better but was wondering if any one new any other wonder fixes.

Had similar on a later shimano free wheel that wasnt 'catching' properly.

Threw loads of WD40 in it, bounced the back wheel up and down to jolt it a bit and then got stunt double son to ride it round the block for a while to free it up, kept slipping and he was told to jolt the wheel as i'd done. eventually it freed up and worked properly again.

I think what im trying to say is 'mild abuse'

Youll get a sensible answer soon ;)

only thing to do is to strip it down fully and remove all the bearings (theres lots) remove the pawls and the spring clip and clean everything

lightly regrease and then refit everything and it should be ok

.

In the past i've sprayed solvent brake cleaner through them while spinning them to clear all the corrosion out.
Then squirt loads of GT85 in afterwards :D
