I am new here as well. I have an interest in retro road racing bikes. I currently have an ALAN framed bike with Campag components. Thanks. Skip.

Hi there just joined after finding this site I,m 45 used to mountain bike loads for about 6 or so years then got into road racing (just club stuff) for 4 or 5 years till I damaged my knee then didn,t really touch a bike again till now.
Being the wrong side of 40 and piling on quite a bit of weight I thought it was time to sort things out so I dusted of the ol turbo resurrected the M STEEL road iron picked up an old school lava dome off ebay (its mentioned in the ebay off road thread) I wasn't particularly looking to go old school but when I saw the kona on ebay it bought back so many good memories,so its time to increase my fitness and reduce the waistline a bit (lot),
I live on the Isle of Wight so plenty of good riding to be had locally on and off road, never expecting to get back to the fitness I had 20 plus years ago when I started but hopefully have some fun and maybe meet up with a few guys out on the trails
bye for now Charlie

Hi all,

Just joined this site after landing myself with a bit of a project and realising that I'm going to need some advice - Sorry!

I'm used to mountain bikes normally so this will be my first foray into the world of skinny tyres...

Hello All

I'm Gert from Belgium
First of all I'm more a mountainbiker then roadbiker
My little story:

I'm starting mountainbiking in 1987
My first mountainbike was a cheap Minerva(Belgium brand) steel bike (about €250)
after 6months I got 2 bikes (two half  )
Then I got a Schauff frame with I ride about 2-3 years
Then I got a Ludo(Belgium brand) steel slooping frame with deore lx- deore XT (around 1990)
My firt aluminium mtb was a K2 comp 71 with I started racing
Then I got a Hooger-Booger full xtr from sponsership (1992-1993)
after that I had a Sunn Revolte
Proflex 955 custom (1995)
Manitou DH (1996 till about 2000)
Cannondale Jekyll (2000)
Cannondale Raven II
Cannondale F900sl
Yeti ARC (2003)
Cannondale Scalpel (2005 till 2009)
Cube AMS custom (2010 till now)
and a few other bike's and roadbike's for my training on the road
I have a specialized Epic roadbike from arround 1992 (specialized epic with carbon fiber maintubes)

hello from Northumberland. Just found this forum and I'm getting quite excited about it! thee are some lovely and loved bikes on here.

I've got an eddy Merckx from about 89', slx I think? that I use for commuting and fixed wheel. I've often thought about restoring it and may just do so now.

Another fan of magnetic bikes here, most recent one a Colnago Saronni, in sky blue, but hard to beat a Columbus Thron framed Peugeot Competition for all day comfort though. Finding it hard to resist some of the classic steel offerred lately.....
