Restoring a 1985 team Lotto/Merckx. It currently has Mavic Open 4 ceramics on it, but I'd like to get it back to the period spec but not sure which rims would be needed???

Please tell me there was a clincher available in 85 and in order to get it right I don't need to go tubular! If not, what would have been the nearest clincher rim to it?

thanks!!!!!

Open 4 CDs don't sound too off, but maybe MA40s or possibly G40s?

Mavic MA40 or MA2 (red labels) would be right I think.

G40 was slightly earlier and Open 4 was later.

Thanks for the reply!

MA40 and MA2 - are they clinchers or Tubs?
