Sad to see VDBs passing, yet another rider blighted with the 'new Merckx' tag.

I don't think there will ever be another Merckx. It's weird, I was just wondering what had become of VDB. Now I know. There was a time when you saw no one else on the cover of Cycle Sport et al.

R.I.P.

Sad, one who promised so much then burned up, like Pantani.

I was amazed he was still only 34

Very sad, we all have many bookmarked pages from years ago I'd think, I was just reading some older bookmarked webpages and one was on him just days before he passed on. Very sad. I wonder what they mean when they said "wasn't a surprise, he'd been having his downs".

Rest In Peace
