I am currently looking into switching to a steel frame and found this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.de/Serotta-Rennrad_...oryZ9194QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. Does anyone know anything about serotta? as it is german i will translate the bits. he writes that in 1997 it was one of the best steel frames available and handmade in the US. apparently this one is from a series limited to 480 bikes.

it is exactly what i am looking for and my size but unsure about the quality.

thanks in advance

Regarding the quality of Serotta: it is one of the best out there

small translation:
It is size L, which means that is has a long top tube, height is 59cm.
According to the seller this was a limited edion of only 480 pieces.
Serotta build their frames by hand and still do.
It has some some visable marks from the normal use.

looks nice to me..

Top US builder of both Road and MTB. Didn't he supply the bikes for the US Olympic team for a while?

They were supplier of the 7-eleven team
most succesfull US team ever

And in 84 the official US Olympic bike

And a lot more....

I can vouch, serotta is top notch. my neighbor has one decked out in full campy, god its so nice; and the craftsmanship is second to none.

what they said.

an absolutely meticulous builder. there were a lot more than 480 colorados made however. fantastic bike.
