Thanks for all your help and comments on this one, much appreciated, not sure what to do with this , I think it'll be a lot of work , but will it be worth it ?

Absolutely worth it.
It may not be a great bike, but if you can sort it it'll be nice to ride. Not special, or stupid light, but nice.

He still is! Rides and wins lots of veteran road races and cyclo-cross. Generally wins his age group.
