There isn't a huge difference in the size of the wheels and there is enought adjustment on the brakes. It will make life easier in the long run as you will be able to get tyres more easily.
I managed to find some 26" Kenda tyres with an amber wall that look ok, they aren't brilliant quality but are better than nothing.
