Hi

In years to come having had many cars, you may well look bad and wish you had not parted with your granddads bike.
You can not replace it, you could spend 3 times more putting one together that looks something like it but still wont be your granddads bike.

Thanks vpug

Hi,

I have my granddads late 50? (not sure of exact year) Raleigh record ace touring bike

I have most of the original parts for the bike (I think) the wheels are rare so my dad told me?
Wheels are rare - 40 spokes - newti hubs, with stainless steal rims.

Also has some very interesting forks?

I wanted to spend timing doing it up - however I've got a car project so this needs to fund some parts.

The paint on the frame is not good and it would need to be stripped back etc. it has chrome ends.
I've got all the spare parts - including the original single speed front chain ring, I think the rear gear mech broke so at the mo it's got newer (90's?_ chainset and gears etc.

Anyway just wanted to ask - what sort of price would this sell for? only ball park...

Ta

Hey guys :D

Found this bike. Seems to be a peugeot although appearances can be deceiving. The frame seems to have been painted black using and electrostatic procedure. The cranks are anodized red and are made by Nervar. The drivetrain is simplex, 2X6. The brakes are CLB. The wheel are maillard with helico-matic rear hub.

Any idea what this thing is worth and what exactly it is? The cables are routed through the frame and the handlebars. Anyway, I like how it looks :D

Interesting cut out on the lug :)

Perhaps not as interesting as the ride if the handlebar stem falls out of the frame, can't be much holding it in :(

I tried lowering it, didn't succeed. I'll try again tomorrow

Any idea on what that cutout might mean?

I've had this bike for about 10 years and despite having other 'better and lighter' bikes, this one has always been the one that I clean and polish first!

I have run out of room (and time) for it now so I need to sell it. Not sure how much its worth though? It runs perfectly and is silent on the road. It has new bar tape BTW and the original saddle!

Hi Peter

BSA were very mass produced in their day so don't retain a huge amount of value as they're not greatly sort after. Although yours looks to be in nice condition and well looked after it does have entry level parts, sachs huret derailleurs, what looks like a custom crank etc. I'd say somewhere around £70-£80

I thought about £50 so I'm pleased to read your comments! Thanks for the speedy response.

Its hard to tell from the photo but it looks like you have the right brake lever operating the rear brake and the left lever the front brake? That's a sure sign of an import probably direct from France. Nice looking clean bike, with some good parts. Peugeot are always popular on Ebay although its a bit like how long is a piece of string value wise. I'd drop the bars as midlife said and possibly change the saddle, then maybe £150-£200

Hi All

I have been thinking about selling off my Raleigh Record Sprint Single Speed.

Can anyone give me an indication as to what would be a fair asking price.

See the link in my signature for pictures and details.

Kind Regards

Trebz

Hello

Commited to buy a Eddy Merckx Domo-Farm Frites replica from approx 2002. It has full Daytona (Seatpost and hubs too) and is almost like new. I've been soul searching as I was only after the group set and not an entire bike. The bike is stunning and in good shape. I may keep after having a few rides. If I decide to get rid of frame what do you think it's worth? Is it worth a lot more complete? It's got the orginal purchasers name painted (from the factory) on the frame too.

Thanks
