If you went looking for something that sweet I'd expect to pay over 500 unless I were really lucky, sort of this you may grab badly listed on ebay with a blurry photo for 300 and then be dead chuffed when it arrived; but insurance is based on what you would pay to replace it, so go on ebay and do a 'completed listings' search of the individual components and then add at least 200 for the frameset...

Cheers... Never thought of that
 Guess knowing the ballpark of the frame/fork is all I needed :)

Taking average prices I get to around £600 or so to replace ..

Col :)

Hello all and wondered if someone could give me a ball park figure as to the value of my stunning 1981 Koga Miyata. In excellent condition !

The specs are as follows -

KOGA MIYATA - 1981

Frame -

Forks -

531 Fork Blades

Rolling kit -

Rims ( Front and rear) - Welber Super Champions - model 58
Hubs - Campagnolo Record
Tyres - Vredestein Moiree 28 x 622
QR's - Campagnolo

Brakes -

Shimano Dura Ace - Levers
Shimano 500 brake calipers

Gears -

Stem mounted Suntour levers
Front mech - Shimano Altus
Rear mech - Shimano XT

Crank arms - Stronglight

Bars -

3 TTT

Stem -

3TTT

Seat -

Brooks leather vintage

Finished in a beautiful blood red colour with hardly any damage or chips.

I am possibly going to sell this but need an idea of its value - cheers !

In honesty, this is gonna seem a bit harsh, it doesn't look all that great. (Sorry)

Is the paint original? I presume the forks aren't as they're mismatched to the frame (i.e they're 531). Overall the look is let down by the tatty tape, chainset and rear mech.

As it stands I'd be looking at about £120. With some work you may see £200 but would probably spend the extra £80 to achieve it. However if you split it you should realise £200+.

Hope that makes sense.

I agree, pretty good wheel set / saddle and DA levers could get you 120-150 and then pot luck with the rest...the MTB cranks and mechs only take away from it's potential. Good scrub, new bar tape and a thorough polish wouldn't hurt + best pics you can grab...

Cheers guys...its really polished thats an old pic.

I am going to put it on ebay me thinks...I have a few bikes and this is just slightly too big for me. A real shame

Whats the best way of selling it on ebay ? Reserve, or buy it now ?

Haven't got time to split the parts and to be honest it would be nice to keep it together.

try a buy now with free P&P ( cost to you about £20 ) at £195, with a best offer option...you can set offers you would automatically accept at say 180 and then consider others at your own pace...
I'd sell the brooks separately ( 40-50 if it's good, nice close up, all shiny? )
I have a spare black saddle you can have for a fiver if you go that route...

if it doesn't sell relist it as an auction starting at £90.

Interparcel are very reliable...just make sure you chop the bike box down to 120x80x20 cm, that'll save you 15-20 quid!
