Hi,
Im thinking of selling my old road bike and was thinking of either splitting it up and selling individual components or selling as a whole.

Frame: John Pavey 531C approx 1990? Red with close m/g clearence.
Wheels: Campag record and Mavic MA2 (rear axle and cup need replacing)
Brakes, campag record calipers (shallow), shimano 105 areo levers
Chainset: Campag record, Stronglight rings 53/42
Seatpost: Campag SR
Rear Mech: Campag SR
Stem: Shimano Dura Ace aero (1980's)
Bars: modern.
Frount MEch: Shimano 105 modern
Saddle: Sella Italia. Modern

Any thoughts on how to go about it? or what it may be worth?

Hi picked this up the other day but way to big so i will be selling to fund other projects any idea on value?
thanks

it's built up with all the goodies.
Campy26.8 seat post
Wright saddle
Campy Gran Sport 5 speed.
Magistroni cottered cranks and Prior pedals.
Cinelli Milano steel bars and badged stem.
Weinmann centre pulls
Weinmann alloy wheels 40/32 tubular 28" with campy hubs.
The frame is straight and solid in great condition and from what i can gather a 1959 model as thats the first of the serial number and has Campagnolo dropouts.
this is all i could find on the net http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/?irn=341178&search=Bicycles&images=&c=&s=1

Hi,

My father in-law had told me about this bike then recently he dug it out of his garage and has passed it on to me. I would like to sell the whole bike but i have not any really idea of what it is worth. So i am writing to you all out there i hope that you will give me an honest idea of price. I believe he said the bike dates from the late 70's ear;y 80's.
I will put some pic up below via the link.

I have recently been given this bike, but it's too small for me. I posted on the forum and was advises to repost here.

I am thinking of seeling the bike, via the well known auction site, so was just wondering how much (if anything) it would be worth

Main side shot here

As I've said before I'm no expert but one opinion is better than none eh and I do study the market so....

GeoSpectrum - John Pavey - difficult without a pic but its a bit of a mix probably about £200 complete, maybe £300'ish split on a good day.

Dayne - DM - Not heard of them before but clearly a classic handbuilt beauty with quality components. Maybe £500+, depends who's looking I am a complete sucker for 50's & 60's bikes

reikeane16 - Litespeed - £1100 - £1200
Litespeed Catalyst - £850

oldschoolfool - Nishiki - only a low model I'm afraid maybe £100 on a good day if it's in really nice condition

leigh4013 - Ken Bird - Bit of a following and looks to have a 531 frame but a low spec £120 - £170, depending upon who's looking

wbmkk - Phillips - clean but nothing special - £60, Ebay may bring you more (or less)

Hi, any ideas how old this frame is and whether its worth breaking down and selling the bits ?

I built it up from the frame that was knocking about in a bike shop i used to work in about, ive had it about 18 years or so !.

The wheels I built myself the bike shop was about half a mile from the hope factory, so its got some new at the time Hope Ti Hubs screw on rear hub DT Stainless spokes and some Mavic MA2 700C Rims and DT red alloy nipples.

The stem and bars are Cinnelli, Shifters Shimano RX100, Sadle not Selle Italia. Brake levers and front Shifter Suntour. Rear mech is a short cage Deore XT that was plainly lurking in my spares bin.

I really have no idea whats its worth, the frame has lost its headtube badge, and is a bit battered looking, its been with me through various house moves !. Columbus Acier stickers on the frame.

The bad bits the headset is loose, and wont tighten, would need replacing, also the paint work is pretty scuffed and battered looking. Also the stem seems to have been filed away to get it lower, so doesn't look pretty.

Pictures below.

Motobecane tend to be a bit quirky and not very desirable, although on the plus side it does have a Columbus frame so is of some quality (Acier just means Steel).

The Hope hubs are not as valuable as their quality should dictate imo, they were superb back in the day but can be picked up reasonably cheaply these days.

Value wise I'd sayl £120 - £150
