Assuming this is an early Holdsworth typically the number would be on the bottom bracket, but we do have a frame with a number in this position, #7329. You could look at the history site below. If CB I will let others comment.

1979 Speedwell Titanium Lamborghini Bike ,
Guys this bike could be worth thousands or just a few hundred, and you need a price for the sales page so just wondering what you lot think it’s worth, it’ll probably go on eBay with a sensible starting bid , but if anyone knows what they’d expect it to go for let me know, I’m selling on behalf of a friend who’s hung on to it for years, and finally letting it go. I’m led to believe they only came as Durace
but this was supplied as a frame and built with Shimano 600 ex

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help identify this bike please?

It belonged to my great Uncle Lyndsey who was a competitive racing cyclist in Yorkshire in the 1950's. According to family tradition it was a Claude Butler but I'm not sure if anyone can prove that?

The bike is in need of some TLC so the time has come to pass it on to someone who wants a project. I will probably list it on ebay so it would be very helpful if anyone can tell me what it is please? And I'd also welcome opinions on what it might be worth.

Thank You,

Jon

(PS I posted this in its own thread but was advised to add it here as well, thanks)

Hello Orca,
I’m not sure if this is a Claud or not, I have quite a range (see list below) from lots of different date periods, none of which have frame numbers on the drop-outs. (Not that I’m an expert, just like making them pretty) hold fire on e-baying it just yet. Let me do some digging.
Ps beware parts vultures, this bike is absolutely dripping with period correct, good condition, desirable parts from the 40’s & 50’s so I suppose it could be a very early Holdsworth CB (circa ‘58 to ‘60)

Hi PeachyPM,
Thanks very much for the reply, look forward to hearing more. I'm not in a hurry to sell but do need to make some space at some point. Not looking for anything unreasonable, but neither do I want to give it away if it has some value.
Thanks,
Jon

Drawing a blank unfortunately, :( she’s got details I've never seen on any Claud, like those lugs and the position of the head oiler. :?:
I think you might have more luck posting your own thread. Your first one was I think in the Mountain Bike section, that wasn't going to work, and this fixed 'how much thread' is possibly the place to ask when you know what you’ve got.
May I suggest you starting something here?
Like 'Help needed identifying a lovely 1950's lightweight' that sort of thing gets the old oracles interest up!

PS, have you double checked you have absolutely no markings under the bottom bracket?

My apologies - I missed this.

I've just looked again and no, there's nothing under there - just on the dropouts.

Thanks,
Jon

Hi guys,

I have some 80's wheels here, they are Mavic 190FB on Gipiemme Azzurro hubs. They are the old kind which had non-linear brake surfaces.

Condition is decent, still very serviceable with galvanised spokes. Mavic sticker has a couple of nicks in it.

Just looking for a range figure that's all.

Cheers
