Still, it'll pay for stuff, this extra bit of tax, and the big companies will find ways around it.
And that's it. Even if I ship from France, it all needs to be declared electronically on-line prior to the goods actually moving, and even before the lovely Frenchy post-woman takes the parcel off my hands at the post office.
There is no escape, there is no longer roulette in the hope of parcels slipping through the net by being glossed over by insufficient staff or sleepy staff or hungover staff at a Royal Mail sorting office.
