Help! What 6 Speed replacements?

Hi, a friend of mine recently picked up a 90s Peugeot Virenque. It appears to be 6 speed cassette with a triple crank
It has a Tourney RdTY20 rear and shimano rx100 front mech.
We were just wondering what components we could get to replace those if they are not working. It looks like a direct mount rear derailleur.
Many thanks
Sorry if this is in the wrong place Mods

Re:

I believe the original had down shifters but this one appears to have road shifters on the brakes which I assume are indexed.

looks like 8 speed Shimano RSX shifters

you will need to replace the rear wheel with something that accepts a Shimano 8 speed cassette. Wheels marked for 9 and 10 speed will accept 8spd cassettes. Wheels designed for 7 speed will not.

Its just a guess from the picture, its a lower end model, you will need to see how many index clicks the levers have

That crank (if original) is the 8 speed second gen RSX, grey RSX sticker gives it away. The if the sticker on the shifters matches then they’re 8 speed. If the RSX logo is blue then 7 speed. Hope that helps
