Anyone able to confirm the make of these forks? Apparently, the number under the bb (AK prefix) suggests Sun.

Dayton (UK) did something like this in the early 50s, on a frame electically welded, frame tubes 1 inch.
They also ran a road team including Dave Bedwell, and produced an alloy cotterless crank on a straight hexagon axle.

Thanks Keith, I think you nailed it. A quick google finds pictures of an "Elite" model from the early 50s with the same forks.
