Nice Sprint you have there Richie..

Some info here;
http://nkilgariff.com/CBcats/Cat_56/Yel ... prints.jpg

But you’ve done the hard bit, it’s a May 1955 Olympic Sprint.

As for rare, well they’re all pretty rare these days, especially in the condition yours is in.
I would say it’s had a respray though as the down tube Claud Butler and the head tube Olympic ring crest are from the 80’s

Hi Peachy and thanks for your help. I must admit I did think the down tube graphics looked a little different to some frames I’ve seen. Would it be a standard sprint model or a Olympic do you think? Also what sort of value would you put on it? It’s a little big for myself so may be tempted to sell. Thanks again Rich.

Probably rechromed and painted when the gear hanger was brazed on.
Time trialists started using variable gears from mid tolate 50s on.

Yes it went on eBay this week. Way to big for myself so no point keeping it. Enjoyed finding out some of its history and thank you both for that. I’ll put any funds it makes towards my GT Karakoram project.

Hi All,

I originally posted this on another forum 3 years ago but didn't get a definitive answer. Having discovered this site and thread, I thought I'd try again!

When my elderly neighbour (a keen cyclist in his youth) passed away, his daughters began clearing his flat, and found various bike bits in his loft that fortunately for me they just gave to me. One of the items is a frame & forks that are decal'd / transferred up as being a Claud Butler. However, it appears to have had a poor respray at some point before being abandoned as a project (I think he was turning it into a fixie given the wheels they found with it) and as such doesn't have any markings as to what model it is. I also don't know if the decals applied after the respray are correct. I've had a read of various sites that show old brochures etc but have failed to identify it. Could anyone help ?

The frame number on the forks matches that of the frame (21492):

Looking inside the head tube, it's clear that holes for the original head badge have been filled before the respray (one of the bits of wood filler has fallen out on one).

Reading this, and the other holdsworthy thread, I'm guessing this is a 1964 bike, but still no idea of model.

Not very clear, but stamped nearby the frame number on both the bottom bracket shell and steerer are what appear to be the letters "CB".
Rear dropout spacing measured as 120mm.

Any help identifying it would be much appreciated!

Sorry about that, google photo's being a pain. Shared the album, hopefully that will be a bit more successful!

No problem, hope you don’t mind but I’ve screen grabbed the most relevant....

Initial gut feeling is a European or a Coureur... CBguy might have a better idea
