I am trying to date and identify my grandfather’s Claud Butler frame below. My grandmother thought it was from around the late 30s, which sounds about right given the frame number. Classique lugs, Continental ends. If anyone can provide any further information it would be greatly appreciated. The paint work is not original. I believe it was customer built to size from the London, Haringey store.

The Williams chain set dates from 1952, this could have been added later.
Thanks, Martyn Hello Martyn, Looks to me like you have a very nice March 1939 "Continental Classique" Yes the Williams isn't original to the frameset, also the head badge and decals are all post 1958 Holdsworths, so not original either... what do you plan to do with it? Restoration or are you selling?
