Sanding black alloy bars - will I have made them weaker?

Hi, I didn't like the bars on a recent build, so took a spare Deda Piega bar (possibly shot-peened? it was slightly rough) and sanded it down with wet & dry to a nice mirror finish - similar to the attached picture.

I'm now worried that the sanding may have weakened the handlebar. Do you think it's an issue?

nope, done it many of my bars. as long as youve ony taken the finish off and not grinded the metal away theyll be fine, dont forget to polish them though

If only the coated part or anodizing is removed then you’ll be fine.
