Budget and availability count for a lot it's really up to you, but if you wish to be period correct it would have to be 74**. But there is also nothing wrong with a retro mod parts will be easier to find and cheaper as you will know DA7700 is great kit and wouldn't look out of place either.

I decided at the end to go and purchase a DA group set 7400 but without the sti for some reasons.

1.- As I mentioned at the description, I would like to run some triathlons old school and races as well. Some guidelines from those events specify that the gears should be on the frame and no sti is allowed.

2.- I found that the 7400 groupset, almost new, costs much less than a pair of sti in good condition.

3.- It keeps the old-school style I wanna keep.

4.- I can change between road and Triathlon bike much easier with that configuration.
