I've just bought this Harry Hall and am after some info before I start restoring it. I know the person I bought it from, a keen cyclist in his 70s, and he says he bought it in the mid 70s second-hand, so it could be 60s. It has been hanging up in his garage for years and he now just rides his two Mercians, so when I mentioned I was looking for a project in my size he said I could have this for £25.

It has virtually indecipherable 531 stickers, campagnolo dropouts and the frame number under the BB says SK44JJW55. Pretty tatty but the frame is sound. It has the weight and feel of a decent bike so well worth the money, but I would just like it to be confirmed that this is a HH before deciding on a paint/decal scheme.

There's a Ti logo on the 531 decal which puts a lower age on it, just need to check. The frame number is a Stockport post code. Nice :)

Re:

Thanks.

The seller was a bit unsure about exactly when he bought it so I suppose it could have been up to around 1980. I'll try and check on the component dates to see if they help, but they appear to be 70s.

From the bit of reading of forums I've done, other people have tried getting info from the Harry Hall shop with no luck. Since he died the place is now just a bike shop and do not appear to have kept records of frame numbers.

Ah ok, didn't know the history, good luck!

Re:

It’s tough to find the exact year. But I think it’s maybe 75-80s bike. Bit of surprise! The bike still in a good condition.

Sakae Ringyo Royal LA5 chainset as well I think. Top class 70's jobby :)

You are right.

Although it is in good condition I've just found the seat post and stem are well and truly stuck in the frame after many years of storage. Not a huge problem as I am in no rush with this and they will be removed.
