Seatpost has a hairline crack, what now?

Hi all.

Just received a nice Selcof aero seatpost I had hunted for a long time.

But the seatpost has a hairline crack in the middle!

The crack runs around the shaft, about 120 degrees.

I can get the crack to open up a little bit only by bending the seatpost with my bare hands. And I am not a strong guy.

I guess riding this thing is out of the question?

You would need to be a very brave person to ride that! Its just going to fail with no warning. So i definitely wouldnt ride it. Probably not worth repairing, plus i would be worried even if repaired that its still has a weakness and its not worth comprising your wellbeing.. (causing a crash)
Real shame, it looks a nice post.

A shame yes I know. I really like that seatpost design.
I guess the seller did not inspect the seatpost properly.

Oh well.

I have a Selcof aero seatpost in 27.2 that I don't need, if you want it I can look for it in my parts box! Certainly not as shiny as your example, but with a little TLC it would be nice
