Anyone know about Hawk bikes?

It sold for £5. It was at an auction too far for me but just curious about the Hawk bicycle company, can't find much online about them.

36 spoke wheels and a reinforced frame, sort of looks commercial. Anyone able to quench my curiosity?

It's a Hawk Consort 20. They were manufactured here in the UK. I think they may be related to this company.

Unless they bought the brand after they went under. It seems such an unknown brand that you can't imagine anyone buying it though.

It wouldn't surprise me if the frames were imported if they were a small operation. You can see the union jack on the tube in the image but that could just mean UK assembled but I can't find a connection between Tensor Cycles and Hawk. Cycleking seems to own the 'Hawk' brand in uk and are putting it on their far eastern imported bikes and you can see it has Hawk England' on the label, so looks like it has some history.

we used to sell them in our shop very much as entry level sub £100 bikes, they were UK built but the factory closed and were acquired about 30 years ago by Professional Cycle Marketing (Cycle King) they still trade under their own name in the Midlands where the brand is established, one that sticks in my mind in the 1990's was a heavy 28 gear mountain bike that boasted four chainwheels with seven on the back but still used a bog standard front mech. you could always hear them coming by the chain rattle!

Thanks Excel, that's good information.

I'm looking to get a old Raleigh Twenty/Stowaway folding bike to restore but if a Hawk like above comes my way I will also nab it.

I’m with it now. Thanks but it has to be a Hawk, ideally a Hawk Escort as they have a rather interesting frame and I think ride really well. I have a “few” small wheeled bikes including a fleet of Raleigh Twentys but I have a plan to adapt another Hawk if I can find one…
