Retro Newbie
I know this is the oft asked question on here, but what can anyone tell me about the age/origin of my Carlton?
Things I know: it has been repainted at some point (as there are a couple of minor dents that would clearly have resulted in a chip, but where the paintwork is sound), possibly professionally by Carlton in the 70s (very even and thorough job, with what I understand to be 70s style decals).
It's pretty light - only very marginally heavier than my '80s Ernie Clements 531 bike
It has Campag dropouts and shifters.

Here are some pics:

Re:

Looks like a 1960s or earlier model with those lugs and forks, lots of catalogues on the vcc library.

Going to have a think as I can't from memory place it in the Carlton stable, mind you my memory is no what it used to be :)

Re:

I had a look fairly thoroughly but couldn't find anything, especially on the left dropout. But maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Re:

Not that I can see or feel if I run my fingers over it. I suppose it could be masked by the re-paint job, but I'd be surprised if it had completely masked any trace of it, leaving a completely smooth finish.

Are the forks original? They look like a pair of round blade track forks with a cast crown that looks awfully familiar - but I can't put a name/brand to it!
