Chain rivet exteactor

Sorry to bother you all again, on what is a daft question.

I need to buy a chain splitter / rivet extractor

I purchased one ages ago, some cheapo job that broke after using it twice

Since I won't be using it much at all, especially if I buy a chain with a magic link, is it worth spending more than £2 or £3?

In my experience not really. Although you need to be aware that on the third time you need to use it you may be miles from home and dependent on it not failing. I have a number of cheapo chain splitters distributed about the saddlebags of my various bikes and while I don't have any qualms about cheap tools per se, you do need to be aware of their limitations; choose them and use them accordingly.

decent quality workshop ones do make a big difference for me. just not portable !

The one in the Topeak survival gearbox is worth it IMHO, and you get some other tools too!
