Moderns cranks on a older raleigh

Can anyone help,

I have a Raleigh Club late 80's frame on its way, is it possible to fir a modern Tiagra 170mm chainset, 50/34 rings that's on sale on here, will it be compatible with my 7 speed rear ?

You might have a bit of an issue with chain wrap on the rear derailleur, but you'll probs be ok.
I put a long cage on my Raleigh Pro Race when I did a similar conversion just in case, but that's mainly because it was sitting there waiting to be used!

Check the ring spacing on the front. Every now and again they move them closer. 9 and 10 are the same. 11 is different. Not sure about 7 and 8.
You'll also get a fair bit of rubbing of the chain on the inside of the big ring. Due to the wider chain.
Your front shifter clicks (If indexed) might be in the wrong place.

An option might be to get some thin washers to space the rings apart. It'll only need a fraction. If it needs any at all.
